Much of Joan Didion’s most revered work was written in and about Los Angeles, where she lived with her husband, novelist and screenwriter John Gregory Dunne, from 1964 until the 1980s. This map and guide plots her life and work in the city, including homes in Palos Verdes, Hollywood, Brentwood Park and Malibu, where she interviewed the Doors’ Jim Morrison and bought a dress for Linda Kasabian, Manson Family member and numerous movie studios, restaurants and municipal buildings described in her writings.
